In the video game industry, we often refer to the truly standout games as system sellers - video games so good, you purchase an entire console just to be able to play them. Depending on your age, the range of system sellers could be anything from the original Mario/Duck Hunt combo and Space Invaders through to Halo 2 and Wii Sports.
But we noticed hardly ever anyone talks about system sellers for VR, despite there being a ton of great options! So, whether you just received a new Meta Quest 3S for the holidays or are looking to jump back into VR, here are five games you simply must have.

For Fans Of: Wario Ware, Mario Party, Rhythm Heaven
Schell Games dropped this social party game right before the holidays in 2024, and it's been taking off ever since. Join up to three other friends and play intense, wacky minigames like Hot Potato, Muffled Moovers (where you team up and have to direct your friend's cow to a UFO only you can see), and many more on your way to win the neon Party Crown.
Party Versus transforms your entire room into the playspace allowing you to map out exactly what your room looks like and where obstacles might be. After each mini-game, the whole party gets brought together to a shared space to sit between rounds and just hang out. Party Versus replicates the feeling of sitting around the television playing Mario Party with your friends, adds the goofiness of Wario Ware as you jam cupcakes into your mouth, but is way more active than a Jackbox or similar online party game.

For Fans Of: Wii Sports
Resolution Games nailed that feeling of booting up your Wii for the first time to play with your family with Home Sports. You will be instantly transported to the pickleball court, bowling alley, mini-golf course and more with five different sports to play all in one game.
Wii Sports was so innovative at the time because of how good it felt to throw a baseball or bowl a strike with your hands and see that reflected so satisfyingly on screen. Home Sports replicates that experience in VR, making every badminton racket swing and hockey slapshot work perfectly so this never feels like a game, but an extension of the sport you love. We also love how they make each sport just arcade-y enough to bring out the fun, such as the hockey experience combining with elements of air hockey to make the game completely unique.

For Fans Of: GoldenEye, TF2, Valorant
Yeah, this dev is so good we had to add them twice. Resolution Games also released Spatial Ops, a VR first-person shooter that will have you running around your room dodging bullets while looking for cover and chucking grenades. The guns feel great (even the starter revolvers are a blast to use), combat is just the right blend of arcade and tactical, and the campaign is a blast to play through.
The real strength here, however, is the multiplayer. Now, your room becomes the actual deathmatch arena, potentially turning an entire floor of your house or half of your office into the battleground. Spatial Ops multiplayer gives you that elusive GoldenEye feeling of having fun shooting your friends around a shared experience, and the team games make you feel like you're playing paintball or airsoft with friends while staying in your comfy clothes. Plus, Oddjob from GoldenEye isn't in this so you don't have to argue about banning him.

For Fans Of: Among Us, Goose Goose Duck, Lockdown Protocol
InnerSloth and Schell Games teamed up to make Among Us VR the virtual reality version of the "this game definitely saved me during the pandemic" hit Among Us, and it's been on the top of the VR charts ever since. And for good reason. Taking all of the fun of the original, 2D game but adding to the mayhem through your limited first-person vision and expressive hand movements is just too fun.
Plus, even if you played Among Us to death, there's always new content coming out with new game modes, roles, and cosmetics constantly being added to keep the game fresh. Based heavily on the lauded Arkham series for consoles and PCs, this game translates the entire experience of stealth combat, crunchy fistfights and a whole lotta gadgetry seamlessly to VR.
We don't use this word lightly, but this game is nothing short of a masterpiece that showcases everything possible in the world of VR gaming.
