[{"content":{"text":"In an effort to deter adoles\u00adcents from using and misusing opioids, game devel\u00adop\u00adment company Schell Games<\/a> is working in conjunc\u00adtion with the play2PREVENT<\/a> (p2P) Lab at the Yale Center for Health & Learning Games to develop a digital game that will serve as a resource in the fight against youth opioid addiction. Due to the rise in opioid use among adoles\u00adcents, play2PREVENT and Schell Games will create an inter\u00adac\u00adtive teaching tool that captures the power of videogame engage\u00adment and incor\u00adpo\u00adrates compo\u00adnents of effective substance use preven\u00adtion programs. The goal is to develop an evidence-informed inter\u00adven\u00adtion that curtails the start of opioid misuse in adoles\u00adcents.<\/p>No strangers to the educa\u00adtional gaming scene, Schell Games and p2P previ\u00adously partnered to bring forth Play\u00adFor\u00adward: Elm City Stories<\/a>, <\/em>a game whose goal is to provide at-risk young teens the oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to acquire and practice skills for risk reduction and HIV preven\u00adtion. For this upcoming title under the Play\u00adFor\u00adward <\/em>umbrella, Schell Games will work closely with p2P to provide players with behav\u00adioral skills and knowledge through engaging videogame play, targeting adoles\u00adcent percep\u00adtion of risk of harm from initi\u00adating opioid misuse.<\/p>Putting its game design expertise to good use, the Schell Games team will assist in devel\u00adoping a mobile gaming expe\u00adri\u00adence that not only draws in players, but also informs and educates them on drug addiction.
