How grenade targeting used to function is simply checking for all other players within a cone in front of the player (really a sphere trace and then checking that the angle pointing towards any colliding players is within a minimum difference from straight ahead), and then selecting the closest potential target to straight ahead as the chosen target. This could lead to targets switching unexpectedly or losing a target without warning when they left the cone, which could happen pretty easily in a fast-moving, fully 3D game like this. Targeting now still selects targets the same way, but once a target is chosen it needs to leave the angle of a larger cone (or get a further distance away from the targeting player) in order to be lost as a target. And, when choosing the best target from among multiple possibilities, the currently selected target gets a higher threshold for changing to a new target than if there is no currently selected one. The end result being that once a target has been chosen it should be easier to keep it as a target than it was previously. Also, the giant white cone that used to indicate targeted players on PC is now a circle, like it is in VR. We are by no means done with either the functionality or representation of grenade targeting (believe it or not, everything being indicated by circles is not the ultimate plan), so let us know if you have thoughts around what would be useful or fun to see!
