2-8 Player Mayhem: Invite your squad for the ultimate test of friendship and reflexes. More players mean more chaos!
Cross-Platform Play: Dive in from either PC or VR. Everyone plays together in the same sky.
In-game Voice Chat: Talk with your friends as you plummet through the air.
High-Stakes, Simple Rules: Easy to learn, but mastering aerial maneuvers to secure the win at the last second takes true skill.
Project Freefall is a free-to-play, high-stakes multiplayer action game developed by Schell Games. Built on the Unity engine, the game supports 2-8 player mayhem in a "race to the bottom" where players skydive from a plane to fight over the single available parachute. The experience features cross-platform play between PC and VR, allowing all players to compete in the same aerial arena. Utilizing an "adrenaline-pumping" loop of combat and evasion, players can use items like grenades, fire extinguishers (for propulsion), and baseball bats to sabotage opponents while dodging environmental hazards like sharks in the clouds. It emphasizes high-skill aerial maneuvers and "temporary alliances," ending in either a victorious landing or an explosive "splat."

What is the main goal of Project Freefall?
The goal is simple: Be the person holding the parachute when you hit the ground. You and up to seven other players jump out of a plane with only one parachute between you. You must grab, steal, and defend the parachute throughout the entire fall to win.
Can VR and PC players play together?
Yes. The game features full Cross-Platform Play. Whether you are wearing a VR headset or playing on a desktop monitor, you are in the same sky and can communicate via in-game voice chat.
How do the "Fire Extinguishers" work in the game?
Inspired by a "happy accident" bug during development, fire extinguishers act as propulsion tools. You can spray them to push yourself through the air, allowing for high-speed chases and last-second evasive maneuvers.
Are there any "power-ups" or special tactics?
Yes. For example, players can dual-wield baseball bats to create a larger hit radius for defense. There is also a "Super Extinguisher" temporary power-up that provides infinite propulsion for a limited time.
Is the game realistic skydiving?
No. As developers Charlie Amis and Adam Whalen noted, it is a "Tom Cruise style" cinematic fantasy. The physics are designed to make you feel like a high-skill action hero rather than a realistic skydiver, prioritizing "effortless" and fun movement over strict simulation.
What happens if you don't have the parachute at the end?
You experience an "explosive landing" (or a "splat"). The intensity of the game skyrockets as the ground rushes up, leading to chaotic last-second scrambles for the single prize.
Is the game free?
Yes. Project Freefall is available as a free download, supported by a dedicated community and an official Discord for organizing matches.
