20+ different ships, each with their own unique power and ability
Adaptive story system that changes with your individual play style
Multiplayer co-op supports up to four players at once
Original Chiptune-inspired soundtrack by Rainbow Kitten
Enemy Mind is a retro-styled 8-bit side-scrolling space shooter developed and published by Schell Games for PC. Unlike traditional "SHMUPs" where the player controls a single craft, Enemy Mind casts the player as a being of pure psychic energy capable of taking over and controlling any enemy ship on the screen. Featuring 8 levels and over 70 waves of enemies, the game requires players to strategically hop between over 20 unique ships, each with distinct abilities, to survive. The experience is bolstered by an adaptive story system that responds to player choices and a chiptune soundtrack, supporting both solo play and four-player local co-op.

How does the "Possession" mechanic change the gameplay?
In a standard shooter, you avoid enemy ships. In Enemy Mind, you are the enemy. Your psychic form can jump from ship to ship; when your current ship is damaged or you see a craft with a better weapon, you "eject" your psychic energy and take over a new host. This turns every encounter into a puzzle of resource management and tactical positioning.
Are all 20+ ships the same?
No. Each of the 20+ ships has its own unique power and ability. Some might focus on high-speed rapid fire, while others have defensive shields, heavy beams, or spread shots. Survival depends on knowing which ship is best suited for the specific wave of enemies you are currently facing.
What is an "Adaptive Story System"?
The narrative in Enemy Mind is not fixed. It changes based on your individual play style—such as which ships you choose to inhabit most often and how you handle specific combat scenarios. This provides a personalized narrative layer to the high-action arcade gameplay.
Can I play this with friends?
Yes. The game supports local co-op for up to four players. This adds a layer of chaos and strategy as four psychic beings jump between enemy fleets simultaneously to clear waves.
Is the soundtrack modern or retro?
The soundtrack is chiptune-inspired and was created using chip-emulation technology to maintain the 8-bit aesthetic. It was composed by the psychoacoustic artist Rainbow Kitten.
